The Atlanta Dream was really starting to find a new rhythm without Rhyne Howard, but they just got some more bad news. Dream guard Jordin Canada suffered a broken finger against the New York Liberty on June 30th and is ruled out until the Olympic break.

Canada will be reevaluated in the coming weeks.

Ric Sincere’s thoughts: I really like the style of basketball that Atlanta can play with Canada on the court. She is a dynamic playmaker with elite court vision. The injury is truly disheartening because she was just starting to find her own rhythm again. She was navigating screens better in recent games and showcasing the ball-handling skills that make her such a fun player to watch. Fully healthy, this Dream team can be one of the best in the league. I just don’t know if we will see that at any point this season or in time for a playoff push. My hats off to Coach Wright for dealing with these consistent setbacks while keeping her focus on improving the little things that make good basketball teams elite.
