The Denver Broncos are making former Morgan State Head Coach, Tyrone Wheatley the first of the four coaches to be added to an NFL coaching staff. Despite leaving Morgan State with a record of 5-16 over the course of two seasons, Tyrone Wheatley’s experience as a former NFL Running Backs coach with the Jaguars should make the transition back to the NFL an easy one for Coach Wheatley. n

Wheatley, along with Coach Jonathan Saxson, coached the National Team with the Jets coaching staff. Led by Rachaad White of Arizona State, Wheatley’s Senior Bowl running backs ran for 114 yards in the contest. Coach Wheatley is very experienced in the role having performed in the role at both the college (Ohio Northern, Eastern Michigan, Syracuse, and Michigan) and professional (Buffalo Bills and Jacksonville Jaguar) ranks. The Broncos ranked 5th last season in total rushing yards with two stud running backs in Melvin Gordon and Javonte Williams both rushing for over 900 yards. The Broncos Running Back coaching spot became available once the Broncos hired Nathaniel Hackett, who decided not to retain running backs coach Curtis Modkins. Broncos new head coach Nathaniel Hackett, previously worked with Wheatley, while on the Jaguars coaching staff.
