Jacoby Brissett and the Cardinals walked into SoFi Stadium and controlled the Chargers in a 26-14 upset. Brissett was calm and efficient, completing 27 of 37 passes for 277 yards and a touchdown without an interception, repeatedly keeping Arizona on schedule while the offense stayed balanced. Trey McBride was his most reliable target with nine catches for 95 yards and a score, while Michael Wilson quietly added five receptions for 56 yards. Marvin Harrison Jr., however, was nearly erased from the game, finishing with just one catch for 33 yards on three targets. Arizona led 13-7 at halftime and never let Los Angeles completely take control, even after the Chargers cut the margin to 16-14 in the third quarter.
Justin Herbert had flashes, but not enough answers against an Arizona defense that kept tightening the screws. He finished 17 of 27 for 209 yards, one touchdown and one interception while taking three sacks, and Los Angeles failed on all three fourth-down attempts. Ladd McConkey led the Chargers with 82 receiving yards and a touchdown, but Arizona forced two turnovers, held the ball for more than 37 minutes and outgained Los Angeles 393-268. Brissett’s fourth-quarter touchdown to McBride pushed the lead back to nine, and Chad Ryland’s 49-yard field goal put the upset on ice. The Cardinals came in as the underdogs, but by the final whistle, they looked like the more composed and complete team.
