Christian Watson Returns From Hospital as Packers Hold Off Carolina

The Green Bay Packers (5-3) defeated the Carolina Panthers (3-4) 27-19 at Lambeau Field on October 29, 2026, as Jordan Love threw three touchdown passes, Christian Watson returned from a broken rib to finish with 113 receiving yards, and Green Bay’s six sacks helped stop a late Carolina comeback.

Christian Watson gave Lambeau Field one of its most memorable moments of the season, returning from the hospital after suffering a broken rib during a 53-yard reception. That catch helped set up Josh Jacobs’ go-ahead touchdown, and Green Bay never looked back. Jordan Love completed 30 of 41 passes for 288 yards and three touchdowns, connecting with Tucker Kraft, Matthew Golden and Jacobs as the Packers built a 27-10 lead. Golden contributed 79 receiving yards, while Watson finished with eight catches for 113. Jacobs scored twice and surpassed 10,000 career scrimmage yards, although his 39 rushing yards on 21 carries exposed Green Bay’s continued struggles on the ground. Defensively, Ty’Ron Hopper delivered a breakout performance with eight tackles, a sack and an interception that set up Golden’s touchdown. Even three turnovers couldn’t prevent Green Bay from securing its fifth victory.

Carolina deserves credit for fighting back, but its offensive line continues making Bryce Young’s job unnecessarily difficult. Young threw for 209 yards and a touchdown while taking six sacks, bringing his total to 11 sacks in five days following last week’s loss to Tampa Bay. Chuba Hubbard rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown, while Tetairoa McMillan caught six passes for 58 yards. Jalen Coker’s 26-yard fourth-down touchdown cut the deficit to 27-19, but a failed two-point conversion and another unsuccessful fourth-down attempt ended Carolina’s comeback hopes. The Panthers converted just five of 18 third downs and scored only three points off Green Bay’s three turnovers. Carolina’s defense forced mistakes and limited Jacobs to 1.9 yards per carry, but its offense couldn’t take advantage. Young showed resilience under pressure, yet another week of poor protection leaves Dave Canales with a problem that goes far beyond quarterback play.
