BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- Southwestern Athletic Conference East Division Champion Jackson State has earned the rights to host the 2024 SWAC Football Championship game where they will face the Southern Jaguars, the SWAC West Division Champion.
The Tigers earned the rights to host the game after claiming a 16-10 road win over Alabama State on Saturday, November 16. The Jaguars punched their ticket to the game after claiming a 31-9 home win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff to wrap up the West Division title.
The title game match-up featuring Jackson State versus Southern marks the second time in the past three seasons that the two teams will meet in the historic title game.
In the event of a potential tie in conference records for the rights to host the game the league’s SWAC Football Championship Host Tiebreaker Policy would have been used to determine the host venue.
Jackson State defeated Southern 33-15 on Saturday, September 14 to claim the head-to-head tie breaker which takes into account all head-to-head matchups between the two teams including conference and non-conference contests.
The SWAC Football Championship game is scheduled to be played on Saturday, December 7 at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium at 1:00 pm CST live on ESPN2.
