The Portland Fire defeated the Washington Mystics 75-56 behind balanced scoring and a strong defensive performance.
Carla Leite led Portland with 14 points and five assists, shooting 5-for-12 from the field and making all four of her free throws. Serah Williams added 12 points, five rebounds, one steal and one block on an efficient 5-for-6 shooting performance.
Sarah Ashlee Barker contributed 10 points, seven rebounds and four steals, while Frieda Buhner and Teja Oblak each scored nine points. Emily Engstler filled the stat sheet with eight points, five assists, three rebounds and two steals, and Bridget Carleton added six points, three rebounds and three assists.
Portland received contributions throughout its rotation and used defensive pressure to build separation. Eight Fire players scored at least six points as the offense remained balanced from start to finish.
Washington was led by Shakira Austin, who finished with 19 points, nine rebounds, four assists and two blocks. Sonia Citron added eight points, six rebounds and three assists, while Lauren Betts scored six points off the bench.
Michaela Onyenwere and Alicia Florez each added five points, but the Mystics struggled to generate consistent offense beyond Austin. Kiki Iriafen was held to two points and five rebounds.
The Fire’s depth and steady execution proved decisive as Portland pulled away for a convincing 19-point road victory.
