The Portland Fire defeated the Toronto Tempo 97-83 behind a standout performance from Carla Leite and balanced production throughout the lineup.
Leite led Portland with 27 points and 11 assists, adding four rebounds while shooting 5-for-12 from the field. She repeatedly attacked the defense and earned 17 free-throw attempts, converting 15 of them.
Megan DiLeo added 17 points on an efficient 8-for-12 shooting performance while also recording three rebounds, two assists and two blocks.
Bridget Carleton posted a double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds, while Frieda Buhner scored 10 points off the bench. Jordan Harrison provided eight points, four assists and two steals in 11 minutes.
Emily Engstler added seven points, six rebounds and two assists, while Nyadiew Puoch contributed six points, two steals and a block.
Toronto was led by Nyara Sabally, who finished with 17 points, five rebounds, two steals and one block.
Laura Juskaite added 12 points, six rebounds and three assists, while Julie Allemand recorded 11 points and 12 assistson 4-for-5 shooting. Aneesah Morrow also scored 11 points, adding eight rebounds and three steals.
Marina Mabrey contributed nine points on three three-pointers, while Isabelle Harrison added eight points.
Toronto received a double-double from Allemand and balanced contributions around her, but Portland’s offense proved too difficult to contain.
Leite controlled the game as both a scorer and facilitator, accounting for 27 points and 11 assists as the Fire pulled away for a convincing 97-83 victory.
