Mexico City – Floyd Mayweather Jr. made a memorable entrance into Mexico City just before midnight on Monday, August 19th. Upon his arrival, he was greeted with traditional Mexican music by a lively group of mariachis who welcomed him.
Mayweather not only stopped to enjoy the music, he joined the celebration by dancing and embracing one of the mariachis. This was a genuine display of his joy and appreciation.
“This is something that has never been seen before,” remarked several onlookers. “Watching Floyd Mayweather enjoying Mexican music and sharing this special moment was simply epic.”
“Money” Mayweather used this opportunity to address his Mexican fans: “I am very grateful to be here in Mexico City, a place full of history and world champions. It is an honor for me to fight in this country that has given so much to the world of boxing. See you soon in the ring.”
This is a special occasion for the undefeated hall of fame champion as he fights for the first time in Mexico City. Roger Mayweather, Floyd’s Uncle and Former Trainer, acquired the nickname of the “Mexican Assassin” due to battles with men of this nation. He began wearing Sombreros and Ponchos to the ring for these bouts, a tradition his nephew would continue during his storied career.
