Jordan Addison makes USC a legitimate Pac-12 contender

Pitt transfer Jordan Addison makes the Trojan offense more dangerous.

n

Pitt Panthers head coach Pat Narduzzi knew the writing was on the wall. He mentioned that teams were coming after Addison soon after the Peach Bowl. Addison saw his quarterback Kenny Pickett become a first-round pick. His offensive coordinator Mark Whipple received a pay raise at Nebraska as their new offensive coordinator; his receiver coach Brennan Marion got a promotion and pay raise, taking over as passing game coordinator and receivers coach at Texas.

n

With so much uncertainty, it made sense for Addison to put his name in the transfer portal.

Did Addison take the money and run?

n

Addison transferred to USC amid controversy. Specifically, pundits argue that he chose USC because of the NIL deal he received. If this is true, there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. It seems that others profited from his Biletnikoff Award-winning 2021 season. Why shouldn’t he? In addition, what better place to have a name, image, and likeness than Los Angeles?

n

No matter how he got to SoCal and the Trojans, he’s there and is set to improve on what was a breakout 2021 season. n

Addison’s impact will be immediate.

n

There is no better offensive play-caller in football than USC head coach Lincoln Riley. He will put Addison in the correct positions to open based on the opponent they play each week. Addison spent over 2/3 of his time in the slot but is versatile enough to play anywhere on the field.

n

Addison is impressive because he has legitimate breakaway speed but can also catch the football in high volumes.

nn

Addison gives the Trojans a load of intangibles as well. First, Addison comes from a program in Pitt where you bring the hard hat and lunch pail to practice and go to work. According to coaches and teammates, Addison was the hardest worker in the room. Couple that with being recognized as college football’s best receiver. Caleb Williams has a legit veteran, star receiver to throw to. His presence will balance USC’s receiver room.

nn

Expect Addison to match or exceed what he did last season.
