The Minnesota Lynx defeated the Phoenix Mercury 104-100 behind a huge scoring performance from Kayla McBride and a standout all-around effort from Olivia Miles.
McBride led all scorers with 37 points, shooting 11-for-17 from the field, 6-for-11 from three-point range and a perfect 9-for-9 at the free-throw line. She also added six rebounds, four steals and two blocks.
Miles finished with 33 points, eight assists and three rebounds, connecting on five three-pointers and making eight of her nine free throws. Natasha Howard added 13 points and seven assists, while Courtney Williams contributed eight points, seven rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Phoenix was led by Kahleah Copper, who scored 26 points on 9-for-14 shooting. Alyssa Thomas recorded a double-double with 19 points, 12 assists and eight rebounds, while DeWanna Bonner and Monique Akoa Makani each added 17 points. Sami Whitcomb chipped in nine points off the bench on three made three-pointers.
The Mercury kept the game close behind efficient scoring from Copper and Thomas’ playmaking, but Minnesota’s backcourt proved too much to overcome. McBride and Miles combined for 70 points, carrying the Lynx to a four-point victory.
