The Toronto Tempo held off the New York Liberty for a 93-91 victory behind a 30-point performance from Marina Mabrey.
Mabrey shot 9-for-19 from the field, made three three-pointers and converted nine free throws. She also added five assists and one block. Laura Juskaite provided 18 points, four rebounds, three assists and three steals on 7-for-8 shooting, while Maria Conde scored 15 points.
Nyara Sabally added 13 points and seven rebounds, and Julie Allemand directed Toronto’s offense with 10 assists, five rebounds and four points.
Sabrina Ionescu led New York with 28 points, eight assists, four rebounds and three steals. Breanna Stewart finished with 22 points, eight rebounds, two steals and one block, while Pauline Astier scored 14 points. Jonquel Jones recorded 10 points and 10 rebounds.
The Liberty received big performances from Ionescu and Stewart, but Toronto’s balanced production and Mabrey’s scoring helped the Tempo escape with the two-point win.
