Unlike last week when they fell to LSU in the second half, the Tigers battled back and came out victorious. What is more impressive is that they did it without much production from their star receiver Luther Burden III.

Kentucky drew first blood scoring twice in the First quarter with Touchdown thrown by Devin Leary. One thrown to Ray Davis and another run in by the QB.

Mizzou battled back in the Second scoring three times. The first was on a fake punt where Luke Bauer completed a pass to Marquis Johnson who took it in for a 39 yard score. After Mevis completed the PAT, he scores again on a 25 yard FG. Then Brady Cook and company March back down the field and an 18 yard strike to Theo Weise Jr. gave Missouri the lead heading into halftime.

The Tigers traded a FG for a Wildcats Touchdown in the Third quarter giving the home team a one point advantage headed into the final quarter. That’s where Mizzou took over.

After driving toward the end zone, Cook ran it in from a yard out. Cody Schrader completed the two point conversion. Cody was not done as about 3 minutes later he ran it for 19 yards for a touch down. Like in the second quarter Mevis secured the point after then added three more points with a field goal from 29 yards out with 3:17 left on the clock.

Kentucky drove down the field but turned the ball over on downs about a yard away from the end zone. The Tigers defense led by Darius Robinson and Joseph Charleston held the Wildcats to their second consecutive loss this season.

When asked about winning six games before Halloween and being bowl eligible in the post game interview on the field, Coach Drinkwitz said “Why stop now?” How far will the Tigers go this season remains to be seen. With a gutsy road performance like this, the future looks bright.

This was the first of a four game home stand for the Wildcats. Next week they face Tennessee. Mizzou is headed back to Columbia to face the Gamecocks in their homecoming game.
