BALTIMORE, Md. — Alfonzo Graham ran for 123 yards and two touchdowns on 18 carries, the defense added three TDs and Morgan scored the final 24 points on their way to a historic 41-14 win over South Carolina State on a sunny Saturday afternoon at Hughes Stadium. With the win, the Bears snapped a 3-game losing streak and defeated the Bulldogs for the first time since Nov. 15, 2014 when Morgan won a 24-21 decision at Hughes Stadium. It also marked the most points ever scored by the Bears against SCSU in the series. The contest also held historical significance for Damon Wilson who recorded his first conference win as Morgan’s head coach.

Morgan (3-5, 1-2) finished the game with 328 total offensive yards, including 190 yards on the ground. The Bears limited SCSU to 250 yards on the day (95 rushing, 155 passing).

Duce Taylor, who was making his first start of the season, completed 7 of 25 passes for 138 yards, including two interceptions and a rushing touchdown. Taylor’s top target in the game was Daymond Hamler, who finished the game with three catches for 38 yards. Morgan’s stout defense was led by linebacker Erick Hunter, defensive backs Jordan Johnson and Jordan Toles who finished with five tackles apiece.

Morgan steps out of conference action when they travel north to take on host Stony Brook on Saturday, Nov. 5. Kickoff is slated for 1 p.m. and will be streamed live by FloFootball. The matchup marks the first meeting between the two schools.

DOVER, Del. – Senior receiver E.J. Hicks broke away from two defenders and raced to the end zone for the game-winning 25-yard touchdown with 56 seconds left, as the Eagles defeated Delaware State University, 28-21, on Saturday inside Alumni Stadium.NCCU (6-2, 2-1 MEAC) amassed 453 yards of total offense, powered by junior quarterback Davius Richard, who threw for 272 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 77 yards and a score. Junior running back Latrell Collier led the Eagles’ running attack with 89 yards on 15 carries.Hicks finished with four catches for 74 yards, while sophomore receiver Quentin McCall contributed four receptions for 79 yards, including a 25-yard third quarter touchdown to cap a drive when NCCU faced first down and 40 yards to go.Redshirt freshman linebacker Max U’Ren topped the victors with seven tackles, including a stop for a loss. Junior safety Manny Smith exploded for six takedowns, two pass breakups and a sack fumble on the first play of the game that Richard later converted into a 13-yard touchdown scamper.Up next, NCCU hosts Howard on Nov. 5 for homecoming.

NORFOLK, Va. – For the second straight week, the Howard University football team used a balanced attack to roll to a win, this time over Norfolk State (NSU), 49-21, at William “Dick” Price Stadium and became the lone unbeaten team in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play. The Bison (3-5, 2-0 in the MEAC) won their second game in a row while snapping a 13-game road skid, dating back to 2019. The victory gave the Bison their first win in Norfolk, Va., since 2016 while sitting atop the MEAC standings. Howard rolled up 274 rushing yards, led by freshman tailback Eden James, who led the Bison with 114 yards and a career-best 66-yard run that broke the game open. James got plenty of support from juniors Jarett Hunter with 12 carries for 48 yards and Kasey Hawthorne with seven rushes for 35 yards and a TD and senior quarterback Quinton Williams with nine carries for 39 yards and a touchdown. Williams had yet another efficient game, completing 17-of-22 for 175 yards and three TDs. His main target was second-year Bison Nah’shawn Hezekiah, who grabbed seven catches for 63 yards. Defensively, Howard held the Spartans (1-7 overall, 1-2 in the MEAC) to 229 total offense. Junior safety Kenny Gallop, Jr., who is playing as well as anyone in the conference, had eight tackles (seven solos). Senior linebacker Christian White added six tackles (four solos) in the victory.
