The first full Sunday of the 2025 NFL season didn’t disappoint. After the Thursday opener and Friday’s international matchup, fans finally got a full slate of football, and the action across the league was nothing short of electric.
Rivalries Heat Up Early
The early games gave us a heavy dose of divisional football, Giants vs. Commanders, Bucs vs. Falcons, Bengals vs. Browns, and more. That’s exactly how you want to kick off Week 1: rivalries, tension, and bragging rights on the line right out of the gate.
Meanwhile, CBS rolled out a fresh look with J.J. Watt making his booth debut alongside Ian Eagle. He called the Steelers–Jets matchup, and honestly, the guy looked right at home breaking down plays from a player’s perspective.
JJ Watt & Ian Eagle optics are elite.

Daniel Jones Wakes Up Indy
One of the biggest shockers came out of Indianapolis. Daniel Jones, in his very first game as a Colt, ended an 11-year Week 1 curse by leading Indy to a dominant 33–8 win over the Dolphins. Jones threw for 272 yards and a touchdown, then added two rushing scores. Even better? The Colts scored on their first seven straight drives. That’s the kind of debut that not only erases bad history but sends a message: this team’s got something cooking.
Daniel Jones is looking phenomenal in Indy.

Betting “Unders” Dominate
If you were hitting the Over button this weekend, you probably took some losses. 11 of the 12 games before Sunday night finished under the projected totals. Week 1 unders are common, but this was a whole different level.
Bills Pull Off an Instant Classic
The game of the day, and maybe already the game of the year, came on Sunday Night Football. The Bills were down 15 with four minutes left against the Ravens, but somehow, Josh Allen and company stormed back to win 41–40. Kicker Matt Prater drilled a 32-yarder as time expired to seal it. To top it off, it was the first 41–40 final in NFL history. Baltimore looked stunned, Buffalo looked reborn, and the rest of us got a reminder of why we love this sport.
The Ravens were up 40-25 with 4 minutes left.

They had a 99.1% chance of winning…
One of the most incredible comebacks we have ever seen from the Bills.
An all-time collapse by the Ravens.

Nora’s Final Word
Week 1 Sundays are supposed to set the tone, and this one hit every note, historic finishes, surprising debuts, even some betting chaos. Daniel Jones flipped a script in Indy, Buffalo pulled off a miracle, and J.J. Watt began his next chapter. If this is the energy we’re getting on the first Sunday of the season, the rest of 2025 is going to be one wild ride.
