Uncasville -(May 27th, 2025) Both teams came in 0–4, and both were desperate to get on the board—but it was the Dallas Wings who showed up ready, knocking off the Connecticut Sun 109–87 in front of a sold-out crowd, College teammates are now playing against each other, and players are returning to their old squads!

Tina Charles hit a quick three to open the game, and Marina Mabrey added one of her own. The Sun had the energy early, but Dallas’s DiJonai Carrington got cooking against her former squad, and Page Bueckers showed up and showed out. By the second quarter, Dallas had found their rhythm. Carrington, Myisha Hines-Allen, and Bueckers went on a tear, turning Sun mistakes into easy buckets. The Wings dropped 33 in the second quarter and took a 56–42 lead into the half.

Connecticut came out in third behind Tina Charles, who finished with a season-high 27 points. Mabrey followed with 19 but every time the Sun got close, Dallas responded. Aziaha James and Maddie Siegrist hit big threes, and the Sun just couldn’t keep pace defensively. In the fourth, Dallas ran away with it. A quick 6–2 run to start the quarter stretched their lead to 20, and from there, it was too much.

After the game, Coach Mezzanine didn’t sugarcoat it. “We need to play with more heart. More effort. More communication—especially on the defensive end,” he said. “That’s where it starts, and it starts with me.” Jacey Sheldon and Bria Hartley echoed their coach’s message. “It’s on us,” “We’ve got to come out with more intensity. Connecticut falls to 0–5 start, the first time since 2020. The Sun are back on the road again to play Indiana Fever on May 30th, 2025.
