Phoenix Mercury Outlast Indiana Fever in 111-109 Shootout

The Phoenix Mercury survived a late push from the Indiana Fever to escape with a 111-109 victory in one of the highest-scoring games of the season.

Kahleah Copper led Phoenix with 28 points, attacking the basket throughout the night and converting 15 of her 16 free-throw attempts. Alyssa Thomas added 24 points and eight assists while controlling the tempo for the Mercury offense.

Valeriane Ayayi scored 19 points and DeWanna Bonner added 13 points and eight rebounds as Phoenix produced timely offense down the stretch to secure the win.

Indiana answered with an impressive offensive performance of its own. Kelsey Mitchell poured in 30 points while knocking down seven three-pointers and adding six assists. Aliyah Boston contributed 23 points, nine rebounds and five assists, while Caitlin Clark finished with 19 points and eight assists.

The teams traded baskets throughout the second half, but Phoenix capitalized at the free-throw line and held off the Fever in the closing moments to earn the road victory.
