SKYHAWKS TOP GO-GO IN SUNDAY’S CLASH

The College Park Skyhawks (3-1) defeated the Capital City Go-Go (3-2), 110-104, on Sunday afternoon in College Park as the teams split the two-game series. Chris Silva finished with game-highs in points (27) and rebounds (13). The 6’8 forward owns averages of 22.5 points, 10.5 rebounds, 4.8 assists, and 2.0 blocks in their first four games this season. A great start to the season as the Skyhawks and Silva look to create seamless chemistry while putting up great averages that contribute to winning this season.

The Skyhawks took control in the early going behind Silva’s nine rebounds in the first quarter, which set a new career-high for rebounds in any quarter for Silva. Brandon Randolph pitched in 11 points off the bench to lead all scorers at the break, and the Skyhawks held a 56-51 advantage. They went into halftime high on confidence to finish the game strong.

In the second half, Silva poured in 17 points and was complemented by 16 from Keaton Wallace and 11 from Seth Lundy. Wallace finished the game with 25 points while Lundy finished with 19. The Skyhawks converted 15 of their 17 attempts from the free-throw line in the second half. In any game, hitting your free throws is a key factor in holding a lead, and that’s what the Skyhawks did.

The Skyhawks never trailed, leading by as many as 16 points (37-21) with 10:44 left in the second quarter. In a game where you saw most of your shots fall, it’s hard not to move with a rhythm that was unmatched by Capital City.

The Go-Go were led by 24 points from Jules Bernard with additional scoring from Hamidou Diallo (18), Ryan Rollins (12), Devon Dotson, and John Butler, Jr. (10 a piece). Even with these efforts, the game leaned towards the Skyhawks from tip-off and they played as if they felt it and saw it clearly as well.

The Skyhawks will hit the road for a two-game set with the Delaware Blue Coats, beginning Wednesday, Nov. 22 at 7 p.m. ET. The second game will take place on Saturday, Nov. 25 at 6 p.m. ET.

With a great start to the season, the Skyhawks look to continue their winning ways from the combination of Silva and Wallace and take their scoring duo to any city that would have them. It’s still early in the season but the Skyhawks look to get some consistency going early. Let’s see what the Skyhawks can put together as the season unfolds.
