The SWAC has officially announced its 2025 postseason award winners, and this year’s list does more than honor standouts, it tells the story of a conference defined by elite quarterback play, hard-nosed running backs, and defensive units that changed the trajectory of entire seasons. Before we get to the full slate of honorees, I just want to highlight a few players for the seasons they put together.
The first is Andrew Body, the unquestioned standard for quarterback play across all of HBCU football in 2025. Even after being limited to just eight games, Body delivered a season that borders on historic: 2,112 passing yards, a 70.3% completion rate, 24 touchdown passes, and a jaw-dropping 202.9 efficiency rating. What makes those numbers even more unbelievable is context, he did all of that with four fewer games than the next-closest high-production QB and still outpaced them by six passing touchdowns. Body shredded defenses at every level, including his FBS outing against UAB where he put on a masterclass both through the air and on the ground. And speaking of the ground game, Body finished second in the entire SWAC in rushing yards per game, among ALL players, quarterbacks and running backs included. Had injury not cut short his season, there’s a real conversation about whether he might have earned legitimate Heisman attention. He was, at times this year, that good.
If Body was the league’s most dangerous dual-threat weapon, the SWAC’s most consistent producer was Ahmad Miller of Jackson State. In true JSU fashion, a school that just keeps generating elite running backs, Miller stepped fully into the spotlight. Following last year’s star Irv Mulligan, Miller became the next great Tiger tailback, finishing as the SWAC’s leading rusher with 1,027 yards, averaging a strong 93.4 yards per game, and anchoring a ground attack that helped power Jackson State back to the championship stage. His plays didn’t always go viral, but his production never wavered, and in a league that punishes inconsistency, Miller was a rock all year long.
Defensively, no team brought more havoc to opposing backfields than Grambling State, thanks to the explosive duo of Warren Robinson and Bryce Cage. Robinson’s seven solo sacks and Cage’s three tell part of the story, but the real dominance came from their ability to live behind the line of scrimmage. Cage finished second in the conference with 12 tackles for loss, trailing only Southern’s Ckelby Givens (15), while Robinson added nine of his own, a major reason the first half of the Bayou Classic turned into a defensive slugfest. Their pressure defined Grambling’s defensive identity all season.
And while Grambling’s front-line defenders made noise, Prairie View A&M made headlines today for its secondary. During the SWAC Championship media call, Coach Tremaine Jackson referred to his defensive backs as a “no-name defense,” suggesting that they weren’t likely to earn many postseason votes. That was at 11 a.m. By 1 p.m., two Panthers, Travor Randle and Eric Zachery, had their names etched permanently into this year’s All-SWAC teams, recognized for outstanding seasons that spoke far louder than any nickname.

BIRMINGHAM, Ala.- The Southwestern Athletic Conference announced its 2025 Football Postseason All-SWAC selections on Monday. The all-conference teams were voted on by the league’s head coaches and sports information directors.
In order to be considered for postseason awards a student-athlete must have participated in a minimum of 50 percent of team games played this season.
