The Greenville Swamp Rabbits delivered a thrilling performance on Friday night, coming from behind to defeat the Savannah Ghost Pirates with a final score of 5-3 at the Bon Secours Wellness Arena. The game saw a rapid turn of events, as Greenville overcame a 2-0 deficit to secure their second victory of the season.

The opening period set the stage for a wild contest. Savannah’s Simon Pinard (6:17) and Vince Marleau (8:06) notched two quick goals, giving the Ghost Pirates an early 2-0 lead. However, the Swamp Rabbits were quick to respond. Just over two minutes later, Josh McKechney found the back of the net at 10:31, recording his second goal of the season.

Then, at 13:13, a misplayed pass by Savannah opened the door for Brett Kemp, who capitalized on the opportunity with his second goal of the season, leveling the score. The Swamp Rabbits didn’t stop there, as Joe Leahy, in an electrifying moment, netted his first career goal with a precise snipe at 13:47. Their relentless performance led to Savannah’s goaltender, Jordan Papirny, being replaced by Michael Bullion after allowing four goals on 10 shots.

The second period saw the Swamp Rabbits extend their lead. Carter Souch found the back of the net at 7:01, securing his first goal of the season and giving Greenville a comfortable 5-2 advantage.
