The New York Liberty escaped with a 95-94 victory over the Chicago Sky behind a strong performance from Sabrina Ionescu.
Ionescu led New York with 29 points, four rebounds and four assists, shooting 8-for-11 from the field, 5-for-7 from three-point range and 8-for-8 at the free-throw line.
Breanna Stewart added 20 points, nine rebounds, four assists and three blocks, while Jonquel Jones recorded 14 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks. Rebecca Allen contributed 12 points, and Pauline Astier added nine points and five assists.
Chicago was led by Sydney Taylor, who erupted for 31 points in 26 minutes. Taylor shot 9-for-17 from the field, made four three-pointers and converted nine of her 10 free throws.
Courtney Vandersloot added 14 points and four assists, while Kamilla Cardoso finished with 10 points and five assists. Natasha Cloud contributed nine points and seven assists, and Azurá Stevens added eight points, seven rebounds and four blocks.
The Sky pushed New York to the final possession, but Ionescu’s efficient scoring and the Liberty’s balanced production allowed them to survive with the one-point victory.
