The New York Liberty defeated the Seattle Storm 95-83 behind a balanced offensive effort led by Breanna Stewart.
Stewart finished with 24 points, eight rebounds and six assists, shooting 8-for-16 from the field and 8-for-9 at the free-throw line. She also added two blocks and did not commit a turnover.
Jonquel Jones contributed 20 points and seven rebounds, knocking down four three-pointers. Sabrina Ionescu added 18 points and five assists, shooting an efficient 7-for-10 from the field and 4-for-6 from beyond the arc.
Pauline Astier provided another strong performance with 12 points on 4-for-5 shooting, while Han Xu and Marine Johannes each added six points off the bench. Marine Fauthoux chipped in five assists.
Seattle was led by Flau’jae Johnson, who scored 25 points with three rebounds, three assists and three steals.
Dominique Malonga finished with 17 points and six rebounds, while Natisha Hiedeman added 17 points and seven assists without committing a turnover.
Awa Fam grabbed a team-high nine rebounds, while Jade Melbourne added five points and four assists.
Seattle received strong production from Johnson, Malonga and Hiedeman, but New York’s balance proved too difficult to overcome. Stewart, Jones and Ionescu combined for 62 points, giving the Liberty consistent scoring from inside and beyond the arc.
New York used that balanced attack to pull away and secure the 12-point victory.
