The Phoenix Mercury defeated the Chicago Sky 106-101 behind a 31-point performance from Kahleah Copper and a triple-double from Alyssa Thomas.
Copper led all scorers with 31 points, shooting 10-for-19 from the field and 4-for-8 from three-point range. She also added four rebounds and a steal as Phoenix leaned on her scoring throughout the five-point victory.
Thomas delivered another all-around performance with 19 points, 15 rebounds and 12 assists, while also adding a block. She went 9-for-9 at the free-throw line and controlled the game as both a rebounder and playmaker.
Kelsey Plum provided a major boost with 20 points and four assists in 21 minutes, shooting 6-for-10 from the field and 3-for-5 from beyond the arc. DeWanna Bonner added 14 points, eight rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocks, while Valériane Ayayi contributed 11 points.
Chicago countered with balanced scoring of its own.
Kamilla Cardoso finished with 16 points, 13 rebounds and five assists, while Courtney Vandersloot recorded 16 points, 10 assists and five rebounds. DiJonai Carrington also scored 16 points, and Sydney Taylor added 14 points off the bench.
Natasha Cloud contributed 13 points, seven assists and five rebounds, while Gabriela Jaquez scored nine.
The Sky stayed within striking distance behind their ball movement and multiple double-figure scorers, but Phoenix had the two biggest individual performances of the night. Copper supplied the scoring punch, while Thomas filled the stat sheet and helped keep the Mercury offense organized.
Phoenix ultimately made enough plays to secure the 106-101 victory.
