Connecticut Sun Dominate Chicago Sky in 92-63 Victory

The Connecticut Sun delivered one of their most complete performances of the season Sunday, rolling past the Chicago Sky 92-63 behind a balanced offensive attack and dominant play in the paint.

Connecticut placed six players in double figures and controlled the game from start to finish, shooting 51 percent from the field while holding Chicago to just 23 percent shooting overall and 13 percent from three-point range.

Brittney Griner led the Sun with 14 points, eight rebounds and four blocks in 22 minutes, while Olivia Nelson-Ododa posted an impressive double-double with 11 points and 15 rebounds to go along with three assists, two steals and two blocks.

Charlisse Leger-Walker contributed 13 points, seven rebounds and five assists, while Leila Lacan added 12 points and three steals off an efficient 5-for-6 shooting night. Aaliyah Edwards chipped in 11 points and five rebounds, and Connecticut received nine points and four assists from Diamond Miller.

The Sun controlled the glass throughout the afternoon, outrebounding Chicago 49-28 and recording nine blocked shots and 10 steals on the defensive end.

Chicago struggled to find offensive rhythm against Connecticut’s defense. Kamilla Cardoso led the Sky with 16 points and 14 rebounds for a double-double, while Azura Stevens added 11 points and Sydney Taylor finished with 10 points.

The Sky shot just 17-for-73 from the field and connected on only four of their 30 three-point attempts. Chicago managed only 10 assists and committed 13 turnovers as the Sun steadily extended their lead throughout the game.

Connecticut’s ball movement was a major factor in the victory, as the Sun recorded 21 assists on 34 made field goals while forcing difficult shots and limiting second opportunities for Chicago.

The convincing win showcased Connecticut’s depth and defensive intensity as the Sun overwhelmed the Sky on both ends of the floor.
