The New York Liberty leaned on their outside shooting and balanced offensive attack to earn an 87-76 victory over the Las Vegas Aces on Tuesday night at Michelob ULTRA Arena.
Breanna Stewart led New York with 20 points, six rebounds, four assists and three blocks, helping the Liberty control the game on both ends of the floor. Sabrina Ionescu added 16 points, 10 rebounds and four assists, while Jonquel Jones finished with 14 points and five rebounds.
The Liberty received valuable contributions throughout the lineup. Leonie Fiebich knocked down four three-pointers and scored 12 points, while Han Xu provided an efficient spark off the bench with 12 points in 13 minutes, connecting on both of her attempts from beyond the arc.
New York shot 46 percent from the field and hit 13 of its 31 three-point attempts, finishing at 42 percent from long range. The Liberty also capitalized at the free-throw line, making 14 of 16 attempts while committing just 11 turnovers.
Las Vegas was paced by Jackie Young, who scored 19 points and handed out seven assists. A’ja Wilson added 16 points, nine rebounds, five assists and four steals, while Chelsea Gray contributed 11 points and eight assists.
Cheyenne Parker-Tyus gave the Aces a boost off the bench with 14 points and six rebounds in 17 minutes, shooting 5-for-7 from the floor.
The Aces moved the ball effectively, recording 23 assists and only seven turnovers, but struggled to keep pace with New York’s perimeter shooting. Las Vegas connected on just 30 percent of its three-point attempts and reached the free-throw line only eight times in the loss.
The victory was powered by New York’s efficiency from deep and balanced scoring production, as five Liberty players reached double figures in the road win.
