Philadelphia’s Fast Start Only Made the Fall in Washington Look Worse

Jayden Daniels and the Washington Commanders (2-4-1) erased an early 10-point deficit and scored 27 unanswered points to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles (2-6) 27-10 at Northwest Stadium on November 1, 2026, handing Philadelphia its sixth straight loss.

Philadelphia jumped ahead 10-0, but Washington answered with 27 straight points to split the season series and end its monthlong win drought. After Chig Okonkwo’s fumble helped set up Saquon Barkley’s touchdown, Jayden Daniels (16-of-29, 217 yards) found Stefon Diggs for an eight-yard score to tie the game. Luke McCaffrey’s 27-yard punt return helped Drew Stevens kick Washington ahead before halftime, one of four field goals that included a 56-yarder. The turning point came when Dorance Armstrong stripped Tanner McKee in Washington territory and Charles Omenihu recovered. Daniels immediately connected with Treylon Burks (three catches, 81 yards) for 53 yards, setting up another field goal. Antonio Williams added five receptions for 54 yards, while Rachaad White rushed for 55 yards and a late touchdown before Austin Ekeler punched in the two-point conversion. For Daniels, it was his first winning start since October 2025.

Philadelphia’s opening burst was all it had. Starting in place of injured Jalen Hurts and missing receivers DeVonta Smith and Dontayvion Wicks, McKee completed 23 of 34 passes for 212 yards but lost a costly fumble, threw a late interception to former Eagle Rasul Douglas and took five sacks. Washington generated that pressure despite missing defensive tackles Daron Payne and Javon Kinlaw, while holding Barkley to 30 yards on 13 carries and Elijah Mitchell to 34 on 11. Rookie Makai Lemon caught six passes for 57 yards, and Eli Stowers added 53, but Philadelphia managed just 268 yards against Washington’s 339. Even Jake Elliott’s successful fourth-quarter field goal was erased by an illegal formation penalty before his 41-yard retry struck the upright. Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith recorded sacks for Philadelphia, but the defense could only do so much while the offense kept wasting opportunities. Six straight losses, the Eagles’ longest skid since 2012, have turned Nick Sirianni’s season into a serious crisis.
