NYG 3 6 3 0 12

There was no offensive masterpiece at MetLife — just field goals, turnovers and two teams trying not to be the one that made the last mistake. The Giants escaped Tennessee 12-7 without scoring a touchdown, riding four Dominic Zvada field goals and a defense that kept Cam Ward and the Titans quiet for nearly the entire afternoon. Jameis Winston threw for only 118 yards, while Cam Skattebo and Najee Harris combined for 112 rushing yards to give New York just enough offense to stay in front. Arvell Reese was everywhere defensively with 13 tackles, Jevon Holland intercepted Ward and Malik Harrison recovered a fumble as the Giants built a 12-0 lead through three quarters.

Tennessee’s defense deserved better. Jeffery Simmons, Keldric Faulk and Alontae Taylor each recorded a sack, helping hold New York to 237 total yards and zero touchdowns. The problem was the Titans’ offense wasn’t much better. Ward finished with 181 yards, one touchdown and an interception, while Tony Pollard ran for 74 yards. Wan’Dale Robinson finally broke through with a fourth-quarter touchdown to make it 12-7, but Tennessee never got any closer. The Titans actually outgained New York 262-237, but two turnovers and a day full of stalled drives wasted a strong defensive effort. It wasn’t pretty, but the Giants did just enough to survive.
