The Golden State Valkyries extended their franchise-record winning streak to eight games with an 88-75 road victory over the Indiana Fever, using balanced scoring, strong bench production and another disciplined defensive effort.
Golden State also completed a perfect five-game road stretch, becoming the second team in WNBA history to win five road games in that span, joining the 2021 Seattle Storm.
Gabby Williams led the Valkyries with 16 points, three rebounds, three steals and one block. Kaitlyn Chen delivered a historic performance off the bench, scoring 14 points in just 10 minutes while shooting a perfect 5-for-5 from the field.
Chen scored 12 points in four minutes during the third quarter, accounting for 12 of Golden State’s 18 points in the period. She became the first player in WNBA history to score 14 points in fewer than 10 minutes while shooting 100 percent from the field with at least five attempts.
Tiffany Hayes added 13 points, shooting 3-for-4 from the field and making all seven of her free throws. Janelle Salaün contributed 12 points, while Kayla Thornton recorded 11 points and a team-high eight rebounds.
Cecilia Zandalasini rounded out Golden State’s six double-digit scorers with 10 points, including two three-pointers. Kiah Stokes added seven rebounds and two blocks, helping the Valkyries control the paint.
All 10 Golden State players who entered the game scored. The Valkyries’ bench outscored Indiana’s reserves 43-21, led by Chen, Hayes and Salaün.
Golden State set the tone immediately, holding Indiana scoreless on its first five attempts and building a 10-point advantage during the opening five minutes. Zandalasini connected on two early three-pointers, while Williams made an impact defensively with a blocked shot.
The Valkyries carried a 40-30 lead into halftime, holding the Fever to their lowest-scoring half of the season. Golden State committed only three first-half turnovers while forcing Indiana into eight.
Indiana was led by Kelsey Mitchell, who finished with 20 points and four assists. Aliyah Boston added 15 points, seven rebounds and two steals, while Caitlin Clark recorded 13 points, six assists, three rebounds, one steal and one block.
Golden State limited Clark to 4-for-14 shooting from the field and 1-for-8 from three-point range. Seven of her 13 points came during the fourth quarter. Sophie Cunningham added 10 points and four steals for Indiana.
The Fever finished with 75 points, matching their lowest total of the season.
After the game, head coach Natalie Nakase credited the road trip with strengthening the team’s connection but kept the focus on continued improvement.
“A record’s a record, but I’m focused on one game at a time,” Nakase said. “We’re just getting more connected.”
Williams praised Chen’s instant impact and the energy she provided to the team.
“She is just fun to watch,” Williams said. “We feed off of that energy.”
Golden State’s depth, defensive pressure and unselfish scoring carried the Valkyries to another road victory as they continued the longest winning streak in franchise history.
