Winston Survives the Chaos as Banks Slams Door on Cardinals, 36-24

The New York Giants rallied from an early double-digit deficit and pulled away late for a 36-24 win over the Arizona Cardinals on October 4, 2026, at MetLife Stadium, sealing it with Deonte Banks’ 98-yard pick-six as time expired.

Arizona looks like a team much better than its record, jumping New York 14-3 behind Marvin Harrison Jr.’s first touchdown of the season and a 22-yard Tyler Allgeier run. That’s been the frustrating part about these Cardinals: they’re 1-3, but they’ve already beaten the Chargers, pushed San Francisco and had another game Sunday sitting right there for them. Then the full Jameis Winston experience arrived. Winston threw two interceptions and took four sacks, but kept firing, finishing 18-of-29 for 250 yards and three touchdowns. Malik Nabers finally got some relief after a miserable start to the year, exploding for six catches, 112 yards and his first touchdown after entering Sunday with just 96 receiving yards through three games and no catch longer than 16 yards. Isaiah Likely added seven grabs for 66 yards, Malachi Fields turned two catches into 52 yards and his first NFL touchdown, and Winston found Theo Johnson for the go-ahead score. With J.J. McCarthy waiting behind him, Winston did enough to keep Nine safely tucked away on the sideline for another week.

Arizona still had a legitimate chance to steal it. Jacoby Brissett threw for only 166 yards and three interceptions, but Michael Wilson gave him seven catches for 95 yards, Jeremiyah Love ran for 63 and Trey McBride caught seven passes. Chad Ryland even drilled a 60-yarder before halftime. New York’s defense kept answering: rookie Arvell Reese had nine solo tackles, three pass breakups and an interception, Greg Newsome II grabbed another pick, and Tremaine Edmunds added a sack. Dominic Zvada hit from 39, 50 and 52 yards to keep the Giants ahead before the craziest play of the afternoon. Arizona reached the New York 4 down six in the final seconds, only for Deonte Banks — who had just committed pass interference to help them get there — to jump Brissett at the 2 and take it 98 yards the other way as time expired. Arizona looked dangerous enough to make the Giants sweat; New York just had the closer. Winston brought the chaos, Nabers finally looked free again, and Banks turned a potential Cardinals comeback into one hell of an ending.
